Easter Activities

Make this Easter one to remember with a range of exciting activities for all the family.

Make an eggbox centrepiece

You will need:
• A cardboard egg carton.
• Empty eggshells.
• Paints (optional – you can paint the eggbox before starting).
• Anything you can gather from outside such as moss, catkins, small flowers, stones, twigs as well as cuttings from houseplants, coloured paper – anything goes!
• Small amount of earth or potting medium.

Line the eggbox with moss, torn coloured paper etc.

Fill eggshells with soil or water and plant with cuttings or flowers.

Use twigs to decorate in between the eggs.

Place on the table and enjoy.

Make a mini Easter wreath

You will need:
• Whippy new twigs, willow is good.
• Wire or twine.
• Any seasonal items for decoration.
• Coloured ribbon.

Gather your twigs and using something cylindrical (a plant pot is good) wind the twigs around it using the twine to hold them in place.

When you have a good solid shape, use as much twine as needed, thread your decoration into the wreath.

Finish with the coloured ribbon.

Make & decorate Easter biscuits

You will need:
250g butter, softened
140g caster sugar
1 egg yolk
2 tsp vanilla extract
300g plain flour
Icing sugar & food colouring

Heat the oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4

Mix the butter and sugar in a large bowl with a wooden spoon, add the egg yolk and vanilla extract and briefly beat to combine.

Sift over the flour and stir until the mixture is well combined – you can use your hands at the end to really mix it and press the dough together.

Roll out the mixture and cut into your preferred shapes.

Bake on a non-stick baking tray for 10-12 mins until pale gold. Leave to cool.

Mix the icing, using different bowls for the colours. Decorate with the icing, using a piping bag if you have one. You can always add your own decoration, mini eggs, chocolate buttons, smarties, whatever you have to hand
